Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley was defeated by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the most recent Republican Party presidential primary debate, according to a new post-debate poll.

55% of viewers in a Daily Mail poll conducted by J.L. Partners predicted DeSantis’ victory, whereas 31% predicted Haley’s victory. 14% of respondents were uncertain.

James Johnson, cofounder of J.L. Partners, told the Daily Mail that whether the field was reduced to two candidates, thereby creating a one-on-one race with the current frontrunner, former President Donald Trump, would determine the outcome of the primary.

‘Republicans who watched the debate last night gave a clear message: that person should be Ron DeSantis,’ he told the publication.

‘He was seen as the winner over Nikki Haley as well as the best to go up against Trump.’ he continued.

Throughout the evening, DeSantis and Haley engaged in a heated debate, during which both candidates exchanged insults and Haley urged viewers repeatedly to visit a website created by her campaign that purportedly contained fact checks on DeSantis’ assaults.

Due to the participation of independent voters, Haley is expected to fare better in the New Hampshire primary than in the Iowa caucuses the following week, according to Johnson.
