Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and former president Donald Trump are now neck and neck among Utah Republicans in the presidential primary according to a new poll.
According to a survey by the Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics, Trump earned 27% of the vote while DeSantis received 26% in a fictitious primary.
Both former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley and former vice president Mike Pence, who declared his candidacy for president on Wednesday, garnered 5% of the vote. Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) garnered 3% of the vote, while entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy won 4%.
Although she garnered 7% of the vote and is a former representative from Wyoming, Liz Cheney has not formally declared her candidacy for president.
In the last week, Pence, former New Jersey governor Chris Christie, and North Dakota governor Doug Burgum have announced their candidacies for the Republican nomination for president in 2024.
Between May 22 and June 1, the Deseret News/Hinkley Institute of Politics poll questioned 421 Republican registered voters in Utah. Its margin of error is plus or minus 4.78 percentage points.
