Fox News host Tomi Lahren had a blunt message for Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin over the weekend: stop chasing headlines and start hitting deportation numbers.
Lahren, appearing on her weekend program, said she would have no objection to seeing Rep. Ilhan Omar deported if allegations that she committed immigration fraud by marrying her own brother turn out to be true. DHS has confirmed it is investigating the claim. But Lahren made clear that going after one lawmaker isn’t what will energize voters heading into the midterms.
“Nothing would make me happier than seeing Ilhan Omar deported for immigration fraud,” Lahren said, “but what I’d much rather hear from our DHS secretary is how he’s going to deport the millions of illegal aliens let in during the Biden years.”
She continued, arguing that “owning the libs” through viral moments with online influencers is fun, but doesn’t compare to the promise of mass deportations that voters were guaranteed. She stressed that turning one case into a political spectacle won’t be the driving force at the ballot box — but a real, large-scale deportation push would be.
Lahren doubled down on X, demanding “mass deportations, not this corny crap.”
Her comments come days after Mullin told a conservative influencer that DHS believes Omar married her brother in order to bring him into the country, and confirmed the department is looking into possible illegal activity. Mullin noted that immigration violations don’t come with an expiration date. Omar has denied any wrongdoing.
This isn’t the first time Lahren has hammered the administration over what she views as underwhelming deportation figures. She previously mocked DHS for touting more than 356,000 removals in the current fiscal year, insisting that number falls far short of the “mass deportations” that were promised. She’s also blasted the administration for moving too slowly, saying she doesn’t care if corporations lose cheap labor as a result of stepped-up enforcement.
With autumn approaching, Lahren shows no signs of letting up on the pressure.
