Vice President JD Vance is reportedly set to visit Pennsylvania just one week after President Donald Trump traveled to the state to promote the administration’s economic message, two sources familiar with the planning remarked. The back-to-back appearances underscore how central affordability—and the administration’s claim that it is reversing the economic damage left behind by Democrats—has become to Trump’s agenda heading into the new year.

Trump kicked off a year-long economic tour in Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, speaking for more than 90 minutes about what he described as significant improvements in the economy. He told supporters that consumers should be feeling relief, especially at grocery stores, where prices for food and eggs have begun to fall. Trump also repeated one of his signature arguments, calling Democrats’ sudden focus on affordability a “hoax,” insisting they are attempting to campaign on solving a crisis that their own policies created.

Vice President Vance will deliver remarks near Allentown on December 16, where he is expected to echo Trump’s message and emphasize the administration’s push to “make America affordable again.” A spokesperson for Vance told the Caller that the vice president will highlight the administration’s progress on affordability and its plans to continue prioritizing economic relief.

“President Trump has made enormous strides in reversing the affordability crisis left behind by Democrats,” the spokesperson said. “From the historic working families tax cuts to over $18 trillion worth of investment in America, the benefits of the Trump economic agenda have only begun to kick in and there is more work to be done in the new year.”

The spokesperson added: “Expect Vice President Vance to emphasize the fact that making America affordable again is the number one priority of the Trump administration.”

Vance’s upcoming visit comes at a politically important time for Republicans. After Democrats secured key victories in the November elections by campaigning heavily on cost-of-living concerns, the GOP has sharpened its focus on how to address voter frustration with rising expenses. While Trump argues that Democrats are responsible for the crisis, polling suggests Americans still feel economic strain: a Politico survey released Thursday found that 46% of Americans believe the cost of living is the worst they have ever experienced. Even among 2024 Trump voters, 37% agreed. The poll surveyed 2,098 adults and carried a 2% margin of error.

Trump contrasted his own record with that of former President Joe Biden, who spent much of his term attempting—and ultimately failing—to sell “Bidenomics” to a skeptical public. As inflation worsened and Americans’ confidence deteriorated, the White House quietly abandoned the slogan altogether.

During his Pennsylvania speech, Trump recalled a conversation with constituents about soaring egg prices and promised that relief was coming. “They said, ‘Sir, we’re going to buy plastic eggs this year … we don’t have enough eggs to go around.’ I said, ‘You’re going to buy regular eggs. And by the time Easter comes, we’re going to have so many eggs you’re not going to know what to do.’” Trump said that eggs dropped “like a rock,” crediting Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins for the turnaround and claiming prices are now down 80% since March.

As Vance prepares to take the administration’s affordability message to Pennsylvania, the Trump team is making clear that economic relief remains its strongest political weapon—and its top priority heading into 2025.
