On Sunday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) reportedly appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” during which he stated that the allegations against North Carolina gubernatorial nominee Mark Robinson would render him “unfit to serve” if they are accurate.

“The charges are beyond unnerving. If they’re true, he’s unfit to serve for office. If they’re not true, he has the best lawsuit in the history of the country for libel.” Graham said.

CNN issued a critical report on Robinson, the current lieutenant governor of North Carolina, late last week.

According to the report, Robinson made numerous objectionable statements on a pornographic website over a decade ago, such as referring to himself as a “black NAZI” and expressing his desire for the reestablishment of slavery.

Robinson, who previously referred to “transgenderism” as “filth,” viewed and commented on transgender pornography online. Among other remarks, he criticized Martin Luther King Jr.

He has denied the allegation and stated that the alleged comments were inconsistent with his character.

Graham stated on Sunday that Robinson is entitled to an opportunity to respond to these allegations.

“What I would do if I were him, I would hire me the best lawyer I could find. I’d sue the hell out of CNN because what they’re saying about him is just unbelievable,” Graham continued.

He also stated that Robinson must “do more” to defend himself, as the issue is now hovering over the upcoming election.

Josh Stein (D), the state Attorney General, is Robinson’s Democratic opponent in the North Carolina Senate race.
