On Sunday, Karl Rove and Brit Hume of Fox News reportedly expressed their dissatisfaction with the Trump campaign’s lack of focus, contending that “the candidate himself” must remain consistent with his message.

After anchor Bret Baier noted that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is more trusted than his Democratic counterpart, Vice President Kamala Harris, on a variety of issues, the duo expressed their regret over Trump’s general lack of focus:

“Yeah, by big margins and particularly immigration. But look, we’re in a moment where the issues are not going to matter for the next several days. I think the Trump-Vance ticket is smart to go to Pennsylvania where they will get local coverage, but they’re not going to be able to argue against, you know, shouting into the wind as this convention goes. But you’re absolutely right when it when the Democrats finish on Thursday night, if Trump wants to win, then he’s got to have a disciplined approach to keep the focus on those three big issues. I’ve been shocked, frankly, that in the last several weeks, the last three weeks since the July 21 decision by President Biden, that the Trump campaign has not been as focused as it should be.” Rove said.

“Think about this. They could have come out and said Kamala Harris cast the deciding vote, broke the tie in the Senate for the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan that even Democratic economists said, ‘If you pass that bill, it’s going to cause inflation.’ Then she voted, provided the key vote to break the tie, to pass the FY22 budget with hundreds of billions of dollars of additional spending, and then turned around and did it again with the next year’s budget. They could have said three times she has struck out by voting for additional spending that caused the inflation that we’ve all had to deal with, and yet relatively silent on the issues.” he added.

After anticipating a post-convention surge for Harris, Hume concurred with Rove.

“Of course Karl is absolutely right. Kamala Harris is about as vulnerable a candidate that you could think of short of Joe Biden himself. And his [Trump’s] campaign should have no trouble,” Hume said.

“I mean, she’s a self-described radical. Not only did she cast the votes that Karl described, she’s had issue positions on a range of issues, that she’s never publicly repudiated. There have been leaks from her campaign suggesting that she’s moved away from those positions, but that ought not to be enough. Trump himself, the media is not going to do this job, at least it’s shown no disposition to do the job of taking a really hard look at her record, so it’s up to the Trump campaign.” he continued.

“You can do it to some extent with ads, and I’m sure they will. But it would certainly help the Trump campaign if candidate himself would be prepared with specificity to pinpoint these issues where Harris has positions that cannot possibly command a majority.” he added.
