According to a new poll conducted by The Economist/YouGov, Vice President Harris led former President Trump for the second consecutive week.
The poll, which was conducted between August 4 and 6, revealed that Harris was ahead of Trump by 2 points among registered voters, with 45% to 43% the difference.
In the same poll conducted the week prior, Harris garnered 46% of the support of registered voters, while Trump received 44%.
Following former President Biden’s decision to withdraw from the election and endorse her, Harris has experienced a rapid succession of events over the past few weeks.
She has now been designated as the Democratic presidential nominee and has named Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) as her running mate on Tuesday.
Harris was three points behind Trump in a previous poll conducted by The Economist/YouGov only two weeks ago, with 41 percent support to the former president’s 44 percent support.
In an interview with Fox News on Wednesday morning, Trump expressed his enthusiasm for Walz’s nomination.
According to an average of national polls from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ, Harris is only marginally ahead of Trump, with a lead of 0.1 points.. Harris received an average of 47.4 percent of the vote, while Trump received 47.3 percent.
The Economist/YouGov poll included 1,413 registered electors and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
