According to a recent poll, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly are the most likely candidates to be selected as Vice President Harris’ running mates in the upcoming presidential election, despite the fact that Democrats are divided on the matter.
In the Harvard CAPS/Harris poll that was shared with The Hill, Shapiro was the most frequently mentioned as the Democratic respondents’ preference for vice president, with 15% support.
Kelly was closely followed with 14% support. Governor Gavin Newsom of California and Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan then followed with 11 percent and 10 percent, respectively.
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg received 8%, while Illinois Governor JB Pritzker received 5%.
Following the conclusion of Biden’s reelection campaign last week, Harris has successfully mobilized Democratic support for her presidential candidacy.
Consequently, there has been considerable speculation regarding Harris’s choice of running companion to oppose former President Trump and his vice presidential nominee, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio).
Harris is expected to be selected as the Democratic presidential nominee in the upcoming week, as the Democratic National Committee conducts a virtual roll-call ballot to determine the nominee prior to its convention in mid-August.
