Jared W. Perdue, Florida’s transportation secretary, announced earlier this month that bridges in the state will be illuminated in red, white, and blue from Memorial Day through Labor Day as part of Governor Ron DeSantis’ “Freedom Summer” initiative.

The edict prohibits the use of rainbow colors on bridges to commemorate the socially liberal Pride Month or for any other cause.

After the chair of the Manatee County Commission objected to the lights being changed to honor Pride Month and Gun Violence Awareness Day, the Florida Department of Transportation, which has jurisdiction over the state’s bridges, issued the order mandating the precise color display.

The move is a major win for conservatives who have long sought to push back against the radical woke policies of recent years..

The new rule is indicative of the extent to which DeSantis’ administration is prepared to go in order to ensure the citizens of Florida remain free of the radical policies pushed by far-left activists.
