Former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida governor Ron DeSantis, according to Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie, are qualified to serve as president, whereas former President Trump is “unfit” to occupy the highest office.
Former New Jersey governor and outspoken Trump critic Chris Christie made the remark on Hugh Hewitt’s radio program on Thursday.
When asked by Hewitt if he believed that DeSantis and Haley were fit to hold office he responded in the affirmative.
“Yes” Christie said, going on to say that he would fully support either of them if they were to win the Republican primary.
In response to Hewitt’s inquiry as to whether he would support Trump in the absence of his conviction on the 91 charges against him, Christie reaffirmed the stance he has taken throughout the year: that former president. Trump is unfit to be president.
Christie has centered his presidential campaign around his opposition to Trump, a stance that has encountered considerable difficulty in garnering support.
