Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida stated in an interview over the weekend that Iran uses Hamas as a “tool” to carry out terrorist attacks against Israel.
The remarks come after Palestinian terrorists killed more than 700 Israelis over the weekend in a massive rocket attack and extensive shootings across Israel.
The Republican presidential candidate stated that the first step was to reassure Israel that the United States will support them as they employ “overwhelming force” against militants.
“Part of the reason we’re in this situation is because in past iterations of attacks, which admittedly, were not at this level, Israel would respond, but then there’d immediately be a lot of pressure for Israel to stand down. Israel would even start getting blamed. And so they never really uprooted the terror networks of Hamas, and even Hezbollah, like they probably should have.” DeSantis said.
“You had terrorists storming residential communities, armed with machine guns, taking people hostage. I’ve never seen some of the horrors. They would actually kill somebody, film it, and then upload it to that person’s social media, so then the family is seeing their loved one killed because of what they’re doing.” he continued.
DeSantis also cast light on an aspect of the Palestinian terrorist attacks that has received little media attention but is one of the most horrifying.
Hamas was ultimately a “tool” or “instrument” for the Iranians to perpetrate terrorism against Israel, according to DeSantis, who stated that Israel recognizes Iran as the region’s greatest threat.
