Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, in spite of still not officially being a presidential candidate, is currently blowing away the competition when it comes to book sales.
According to BookScan, a business that provides data on the sales of printed books in the United States, the Republican’s book “The Courage to Be Free: Florida’s Plan for America’s Survival” sold 94,300 copies in its first week of release.
According to BookScan’s findings, it was the most successful book release in its first week on sale in the political category.
On February 28th, the memoir was made available to the public.
This number surpasses the first-week sales of other famous politicians’ autobiographies, including an effort made in 2015 by former President Donald Trump, who is widely seen as a front-runner for the potential Republican primary field in 2024 and DeSantis main rival when and if he announces his decision to run for President.
The data service, which is owned by the massive market research company NPD Group, covers around 85% of the trade print books that are sold in the United States.
Its findings are derived from weekly reports submitted by major shops.
The conservative culture battle that DeSantis has been waging on subjects ranging from Covid-19 safety measures to LGBTQ concerns in the classroom has elevated him to a prominent position within the Republican Party. The governor of Florida is now in the middle of a book tour, which brought him to Iowa on Friday. Iowa is the first state in the nation to hold presidential caucuses.
The sales of DeSantis’ book looked to be considerably ahead of those of recently published autobiographies by a handful of other Republicans who have either already begun their bids for the presidency in 2024 or are contemplating doing so.
