Fans hoping to see another Ultimate Fighting Championship event on the White House lawn may reportedly want to temper their expectations.
UFC President Dana White says Sunday night’s “UFC Freedom 250” was a unique occasion that will not be repeated, despite widespread attention surrounding the unprecedented event and speculation that future fights could be held at the presidential residence.
Speaking after the event, White made clear that while the experience was memorable, it was also extraordinarily expensive and difficult to organize.
“It was an amazing experience; this was a one-of-one,” White said, according to the Associated Press. “It will never happen again.”
The event took place as part of a broader series of “America 250” celebrations and coincided with President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday. The combination of sports, patriotism, and politics created one of the most unusual spectacles ever staged on White House grounds.
Throughout the evening, fans watched more than half a dozen bouts, including a major upset in the lightweight championship division. The fights quickly became one of the most talked-about topics online, generating social media buzz, viral memes, and spirited political debate.
For supporters, the event represented a uniquely American display that blended athletic competition with a celebration of national history. Critics questioned whether an event of such size belonged on the White House grounds at all. Regardless of where people stood politically, few disputed that the event attracted enormous public attention.
White, a longtime friend and supporter of Trump, has remained one of the president’s most visible allies in the sports world. He campaigned on Trump’s behalf during the 2024 Republican National Convention and has frequently defended the president in public appearances.
Still, White rejected suggestions that “UFC Freedom 250” was intended to function as a political rally or partisan statement.
“Hopefully tonight created some unity,” White said. “Even for the people that thought this was going to be some big political statement or something, this wasn’t.”
According to White, the goal was to create a shared experience centered around competition and celebration rather than political division.
“This was Americans, all Americans celebrating the birthday,” he said. “For people who tuned in for the first time, because it was at the White House, hopefully they liked the sport. They liked some of the guys’ stories.”
The scale of the production, however, came with a significant price tag. White has previously stated that UFC covered the roughly $60 million cost required to build the massive structure that housed the octagon and accommodated the event.
That expense appears to be one of the primary reasons he has no interest in repeating the experiment.
Although Trump praised the event in a social media post after the fights and had publicly floated the possibility of keeping the setup on the South Lawn for future events, White quickly dismissed the idea.
“I can’t afford it,” he said.
White compared the White House production to another high-profile UFC venue that he has no plans to revisit.
“I’ll never do the Sphere again, and we’ll never do this again,” he added.
For all the excitement generated by “UFC Freedom 250,” White’s message was simple: the historic event succeeded precisely because it was unique, and fans should not expect a sequel anytime soon.
