On Saturday, Lara Trump, who is the daughter-in-law of President-elect Donald Trump, reportedly announced that she had made the decision to withdraw her name from consideration for the position of senator in the state of Florida.
“After an incredible amount of thought, contemplation, and encouragement from so many, I have decided to remove my name from consideration for the United States Senate.” Lara wrote on her X account.

Her announcement put an end to rumors that she was interested in taking over for Senator Marco Rubio, a Republican from Florida, who Trump has nominated to the position of Secretary of State.
After that, she proceeded to hint about a “big announcement” that she will reveal in the month of January.
Additionally, she made the announcement earlier this month that she would be resigning from her position as co-chair of the Republican National Convention.
Trump, who is married to the son of the president-elect, Eric, reaffirmed in her post that she does not believe she could have been more proud to serve as the co-chair of the Republican National Committee.
Should the Senate decide to confirm Rubio for the position of secretary of state, the seat that he currently occupies will be vacant.
A prior statement made by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis indicated that his team would most likely make a decision regarding who would occupy the seat vacated by Rubio by the beginning of January.
Lara Trump had previously showed openness to working in another role, even as she was serving as a member of the Republican National Committee.
