Even though President-elect Donald Trump has not even begun his second term in office, more than a few of his most prominent allies are now reportedly already advocating for a third term.
A former senior strategist to Donald Trump during his first term and the current host of the War Room podcast, Steve Bannon, gave a speech at the New York Young Republican Club’s gala on Sunday night.
In his speech, Bannon discussed the possibility of Trump running for the White House for the fourth time in a row in 2028.
The 22nd Amendment establishes a limit of two terms for presidents of the United States.
Bannon, on the other hand, attempted to find a way to claim that Trump is in fact eligible to run for a third term in office.
“Since it doesn’t actually say consecutive, I don’t know, maybe we do it again in ’28? Are you guys down for that?! Trump ’28! Come on, man!” Bannon said as the crowd roared in approval.

Trump himself has previously stated that he does not want to run for president in 2028.
Additionally, he called into the gala on Sunday night and in the course of his discussion regarding the likelihood of New York becoming red in 2028, he made the suggestion that he will not test Bannon’s constitutional theory.
“In four years, perhaps somebody else is gonna have to be worrying about that,” Trump remarked.
