Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis accused Democrats of exploiting division and fear as a political tactic during Fox News interview on Wednesday,
Appearing on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” DeSantis criticized Democrats for depicting former President Donald Trump as a present-day authoritarian.
He argued that they were playing a “dangerous game” with the comparisons, that are not only misleading but also sow discord.
“You look at what they’ve done from the beginning. Even more recently, their closing arguments seem to be that Donald Trump is like Hitler, like a fascist. He was president for four years,” DeSantis said to Watters.
“What they are doing is really stirring up, I think, a lot of division in this country.”
DeSantis implied that warning voters that “American democracy will end if Donald Trump is president” is contributing to the nation’s current divide.
“You can see why you have some of the problems we have and some of the things that have been stirred up amongst the populace,” DeSantis added.
“I think it’s a dangerous game that they are playing. I think it is born out of desperation. I don’t think it’s going to work.”
To his point, Vice President Harris stated Wednesday that her team is prepared if Trump prematurely declares victory on Election Day.
When ABC’s Mary Bruce asked Harris what she would do if Trump claimed victory before results were finalized, referencing his actions in 2020, Harris responded, “We are sadly ready if he does and, if we know that he is actually manipulating the press and attempting to manipulate the consensus of the American people … we are prepared to respond,”
The day prior, Harris described Trump as “obsessed with revenge,” calling him a “petty tyrant” likely to misuse the military against his adversaries if he returned to the White House.
