Ahead of her anticipated support of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, his primary opponent for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024, former President Trump attacked Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, threatening to “put an end to her political career in that MAGA would never support her again.”
At a Des Moines event on Monday night, Reynolds is anticipated to support DeSantis over Trump for the Republican presidential candidacy in 2024.
After that, Trump discussed his prior backing of Reynolds, referencing a Morning Consult survey that claims Reynolds is “America’s most unpopular governor.”
“If and when Kim Reynolds of Iowa endorses Ron DeSanctimonious, who is absolutely dying in the polls both in Iowa and Nationwide, it will be the end of her political career in that MAGA would never support her again, just as MAGA will never support DeSanctimonious again. Two extremely disloyal people getting together is, however, a very beautiful thing to watch.” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
‘They can now remain loyal to each other because nobody else wants them!!!” he continued.
Trump made these remarks prior to Monday night’s anticipated endorsement.
Reynolds, the well-liked two-term Republican governor of the state, is scheduled to attend DeSantis’ event in Des Moines as a “special guest,” according to a social media page linked to the Florida governor’s presidential bid.
Due to its historical significance as the first state to host the Republican presidential nomination convention, Iowa is a major player in the presidential election.
Reynolds also came under fire from Trump earlier this year for her promise, consistent with prior Iowa governors, to remain impartial in the quest for the presidential nomination.
