President Donald Trump praised his administration’s work on the Great American State Fair Monday morning, touting the event as a success while dismissing reports highlighting operational issues during its opening days.

In a Truth Social post published shortly before 6:30 a.m. ET, Trump applauded both his team and himself for organizing and operating the fair, which is being held on the National Mall as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration.

The president described the event as being filled with enthusiastic visitors and suggested it had been warmly received by those attending.

“Do you think people appreciate what a fantastic job we did in building and operating the Great American State Fair at the National Mall, packed with happy people, and everybody loving it?” Trump wrote.

The president also used the post to contrast the event with the leadership of his two immediate predecessors, arguing they would not have been capable of accomplishing the same feat.

“Ask yourself this simple question, ‘DO YOU THINK THAT OBUMA OR SLEEPY JOE BIDEN COULD HAVE DONE IT?’ THE ANSWER IS NO!” Trump wrote, using his familiar nicknames for former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

Trump’s comments came as media coverage of the event has offered a different assessment of its early days.

According to The Washington Post, the fair has encountered a number of challenges since opening on June 25. The newspaper reported issues including power outages, smaller-than-expected crowds, and melted ice cream during the event.

Despite those reports, Trump maintained that the fair has been well attended and characterized the atmosphere as overwhelmingly positive.

The Great American State Fair is scheduled to run for 16 days on the National Mall. The event was organized in conjunction with celebrations marking America’s 250th anniversary and features exhibits and activities throughout its run.

The fair began on June 25 and will continue through the Independence Day weekend before concluding on July 10.

Trump’s latest Truth Social post reflects his continued defense of the event amid criticism surrounding its execution. While some reports have focused on logistical difficulties and attendance concerns, the president portrayed the fair as a major success and credited his administration for its planning and operation.

The president’s message also underscored his tendency to compare his administration’s accomplishments with those of previous administrations, using the event as an opportunity to criticize both Obama and Biden while highlighting what he described as his team’s achievements.

As the celebration continues on the National Mall, the event remains a centerpiece of activities commemorating the country’s upcoming 250th anniversary. It is scheduled to remain open through July 10, giving visitors additional opportunities to attend despite the mixed reports surrounding its opening week.

For his part, Trump expressed confidence that the fair has been a success, insisting it is attracting large crowds and receiving a positive response from attendees even as outside reports have pointed to operational setbacks during the first several days of the celebration.
