Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia reportedly sharply criticized President Donald Trump on Tuesday following the Justice Department’s release of a new batch of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, marking another public rupture between the once-loyal Trump ally and the president.

Greene’s comments came just hours after the latest trove of Epstein-related records was made public. The documents included multiple references to Trump, who has consistently denied any wrongdoing connected to Epstein and has said he severed ties with the disgraced financier sometime between 2004 and 2007.

Reacting on social media, Greene expressed outrage at the contents of the files and accused Trump of attacking her for pushing transparency. “This is horrifying,” Greene wrote on X. “Trump called me a traitor for fighting him to release the Epstein files and standing with women who were raped, jailed in stalls, and trafficked to men.”

Greene focused in particular on testimony from one Epstein victim included in the documents. According to the account, the woman described being confined in a stall and evaluated by Epstein and other men based on her appearance. The testimony included disturbing language attributed to Epstein. “[Epstein] told me I was fat and ugly. So that’s what he called me,” the victim said, according to the released records.

Greene said the testimony underscored why the files should never have been concealed. “Only evil people would hide this and protect those who participated,” she wrote. “I pray for these women.”

The remarks represent a dramatic escalation in Greene’s break with Trump. Once among the president’s most vocal defenders in Congress, Greene has increasingly distanced herself from Trump in recent months, particularly over the handling of the Epstein files. She has aligned herself with Democratic lawmakers on the issue, arguing that full transparency is necessary regardless of political consequences.

Trump, for his part, has maintained that he supported the release of the Epstein files and signed legislation mandating their disclosure, while also warning that the process risks unfairly smearing individuals without evidence of criminal conduct. He has repeatedly denied any involvement in Epstein’s crimes and has said he cut off contact with Epstein years before the financier’s arrest.

Greene’s criticism also comes in the context of her impending departure from Congress. Last month, she announced she would resign her seat, saying she wanted to avoid what she described as a “hateful primary against me by the president.” Her final day in office is scheduled for January 5, 2026.

The clash highlights how the Epstein controversy continues to fracture political alliances on the right, even as Republicans broadly support transparency and accountability for Epstein’s crimes. Greene has framed her position as standing with victims, while Trump and his allies have argued that releasing raw materials without context can lead to politically motivated attacks and collateral damage.

As more Epstein-related documents are expected to be released, the dispute between Trump and Greene underscores the high political stakes surrounding the issue. What was once a united front has given way to open hostility, with Greene using some of her strongest language yet against a president she once fiercely defended.
