In a recent appearance on The View, former President Joe Biden reportedly discussed Kamala Harris’s defeat in the presidential election, attributing her loss to racism and sexism rather than her poor performance and unpopularity.
This marked Biden’s first American television interview since leaving office in January.
When asked by co-host Sarah Haines if he was surprised by Harris’s loss to Donald Trump, Biden stated he was not, explaining that the campaign faced significant challenges related to her identity as a woman of mixed race.
Biden emphasized that Harris ran a strong campaign, but societal biases ultimately undermined her efforts. He noted, “I was surprised because it went the sexist route,” highlighting the unique obstacles she faced as a candidate.
Furthermore, Biden expressed confidence that he could have defeated Trump if he had remained in the race, pointing out that Trump lost by “7 million fewer votes.”
He argued that many voters did not show up, which contributed to the tight margins in battleground states. During the interview, he reflected on the political landscape and the importance of focusing on issues rather than polling numbers.
Biden’s comments have reignited discussions about the impact Democrats’ woke in politics, particularly concerning female candidates.
His remarks he may be in deep denial over the true extent of Harris’s unpopularity.
