Representative Byron Donalds of Florida has now reportedly addressed rumors surrounding First Lady Casey DeSantis potentially entering the gubernatorial race to succeed her husband.

During a new interview, Donalds reflected on his own political journey, highlighting the significant role that Donald Trump’s endorsement has played in his campaign for governor.

“I remember back in 2018 campaigning for a then-Congressman DeSantis who had the support of Donald Trump, and that worked out great for our state,” Donalds remarked.

“In 2025, moving into 2026, I’m really honored to have the same support from President Trump. He has a history of making good picks, and I think his picks have always worked out for the Sunshine State. I’m happy to have President Trump’s support,” Donalds continued.

He expressed gratitude for Trump’s continued support, noting that the former president has a track record of making successful endorsements in Florida.

As Donalds prepares for the 2026 election, he emphasized his commitment to focusing on the needs of Floridians rather than dwelling on speculation about challengers.

He recalled his own journey to Florida, arriving as a teenager with little more than a trunk full of clothes. Over the years, he has built a family and a career, serving both in the state legislature and Congress.

While he acknowledged the possibility of competition, including Casey DeSantis, he stated that his priority remains advancing ideas to elevate the state.

Donalds noted that Governor Ron DeSantis has not yet made an endorsement in the upcoming race, which leaves the field open for various candidates.

As the political landscape evolves, Donalds aims to present a vision for Florida that resonates with voters, harnessing the momentum from his Trump endorsement.

He is determined to remain focused on substantive issues affecting the state and to engage with the electorate on policies that will foster growth and progress in Florida.

Overall, Donalds’ remarks reflect a proactive approach as he positions himself for the gubernatorial race amid swirling speculation.
