A statement made by Steve Bannon reportedly suggested that the “oligarchs” who are loyal to President Trump will forsake Republicans in the same way that they abandoned Democrats.
On Wednesday, Donie O’Sullivan of CNN conducted a brief interview with Bannon, during which he extended his case against Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, both of whom are billionaires in the technology industry.
“You can tell President Trump doesn’t totally trust the oligarchs,” Bannon said.
The former adviser who is now a podcaster went on to claim that he is not a conservative, but that he is registered with the Republican Party and considers himself to be “a populist nationalist.”
“They’ve abandoned the progressive left. They will abandon us and do the same thing,” Bannon added.
“They seek power. Right now, their feeling is they can see the math and they see that we have a built-in coalition. So they’re with us … but only temporarily.” he concluded.
He made the observation that the viewers of CNN were going to identify with the feeling that executives from Silicon Valley had previously backed Democratic causes but have now shifted their support to Trump in an effort to gain influence within their organizations.
Bannon has been dismissive of Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency, stating that the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX “wants to impose his freak experiments” on the United States of America.
Immediately prior to the inauguration of Donald Trump, Bannon made a vehement critique of the participation of Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg in the celebration.
The argument that he made was that Musk should not be trusted and that he is easily swayed toward ideology.
Since a long time ago, he has been a critic of Republican politicians and those who, in his opinion, are not sufficiently dedicated to the goal that Trump has set forth.
