A new poll has now revealed that there is a possibility that some voters might see another DeSantis on the ballot in 2026, despite the fact that Governor Ron DeSantis is not eligible to run for governor again.
Casey DeSantis, the First Lady of Florida, came out on top of a list of potential candidates for the position of governor, according to the most recent poll conducted by the Public Opinion Research Lab (PORL) at the University of North Florida.
Thirty percent of respondents gave a favorable opinion of her, which is higher than the percentages of twenty percent for Ashley Moody, who was the former Attorney General of Florida and is now a Senator for the state of Florida, eighteen percent for former Representative Matt Gaetz, fifteen percent for Representative Byron Donalds, and seven percent for Wilton Simpson, who is the Florida Agricultural Commissioner.
Gaetz, a former representative from North Florida who was formerly a candidate for the position of United States Attorney General under Trump’s nomination but later withdrew it due to charges of sexual misconduct and drug usage, received the greatest unfavorable rating, even among people who consider themselves to be Republicans.
38 percent of those polled gave a negative response to Gaetz, with 62 percent of Democrats and 23 percent of Republican voters expressing their disapproval of him.
Casey DeSantis and Gaetz were two of the candidates who suffered from a lack of brand awareness, with 33 percent of respondents stating that they had never heard of either of them.
Their performance, however, was superior to that of Moody (54%), Donalds (66%), and Simpson (79%).
Within the scope of the survey, there were no possible candidates for the Democratic Party.
