A record has been shattered.
The Florida panhandle is in the midst of a winter storm that is expected to be the heaviest in the State’s history. Reports of 5-12 inches have been reported breaking the previous record of 4 inches in 1954.
Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency and is working to restore power and clear roads in the affected areas.
“I don’t have to tell anybody that we’re not necessarily used to walking in a winter wonderland here in Florida,” DeSantis said during a news briefing at the state’s emergency operations center.
