Meta, which is owned by Mark Zuckerberg, has dealt the DEI (diversity, equality, and inclusiveness) programs a fatal blow, and the decision will take effect immediately according to a new document obtained by Axios.
Practices regarding employment and training are impacted as a result of the termination of DEI programs.
An employee named Janelle Gale, who is the vice president of human resources for the company, is the source of the message that Axios collected.
She went on to say that the concept of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) has become “charged” in the culture of today.
“The Supreme Court of the United States has recently made decisions signaling a shift in how courts will approach DEI. … The term ‘DEI’ has also become charged, in part because it is understood by some as a practice that suggests preferential treatment of some groups over others.” the memo reads.
As part of the corporation’s plan to change its direction, the DEI-focused team will be reduced in size, and the company will also stop chasing “representation goals.”
This is the most recent step that Zuckerberg’s company has taken in order to align itself more closely with the ideas of President-elect Donald Trump. DEI programs have been the subject of Trump’s outspoken criticism.
In what was perceived as yet another success for Trump, Zuckerberg recently declared that fact-checking programs for Facebook and Instagram would be discontinued.
He stated that the organization had “gone too far” in accomplishing this goal.
The corporation is going to switch to a “community note” system, which is pretty much the same as Elon Musk’s X.
As a result of Trump’s victory in the presidential election, a number of prominent figures in the technology industry have paid a visit to Mar-a-Lago.
Additionally, Meta contributed one million dollars to the inauguration of Donald Trump. The CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, and Jeff Bezos’s Amazon both contributed one million dollars to the cause.
