Police in Massachusetts reportedly launched an investigation into homeless shelters throughout the state after apprehending an illegal alien who was found in possession of a semi-automatic gun and an estimated $1 million worth of fentanyl.
When Leonardo Andujar Sanchez, a 28-year-old Dominican Republic illegal alien, was taken into custody by the Revere Police Department, he had 10 pounds of fentanyl and a loaded AR-15 gun with three magazines.
An estimated 2.2 million lethal doses of fentanyl, the poison that has killed hundreds of thousands of Americans, are in the illegal alien’s possession.
When Sanchez was arrested, he was searching for a room at a hotel that had been turned into a homeless shelter.
He is currently being held by the state and will soon be turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Following the illegal alien’s arrest, Democratic Governor Maura Healy announced that homeless shelters throughout the state would be inspected and their regulations would be reviewed.
Additionally, she blamed the “broken federal immigration system” and the federal government.
However, Healy has stated that state forces will not support federal immigration enforcement efforts and has been a strong opponent of President-elect Donald Trump’s plan for mass deportations.
In a November interview, the Democrat governor stated that the Massachusetts State Police will “absolutely not” be allowed to support the federal government’s efforts to enforce immigration law against undocumented immigrants.
Days after Healy voiced her opposition to the deportation program, ICE authorities apprehended three illegal aliens suspected of sexually assaulting children.
The Great Barrington Police Department arrested Mynor Stiven De Paz-Munoz, a Guatemalan national who was one of the three illegal aliens, and accused him with raping a kid.
However, according to ICE, the police department neglected to surrender the illegal alien to federal custody and did not honor a federal detainer for him.
