The state of Florida is reportedly enforcing a new law that took effect at midnight on January 1, which has made it more challenging to view porn online.
After Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill mandating that pornographic websites verify users’ ages, the world’s largest site, Pornhub, and others are blocking access to Florida residents.
The company has sent messages to individuals in Florida who have attempted to access sites such as Pornhub or RedTube, informing them that they are prohibited from viewing erotica due to state law.
In order to verify their age, the state now mandates that individuals who wish to access online pornography submit their driver’s licenses or a photograph of themselves.
Some Florida voters contend that their freedom is being violated, while others argue that such content should be prohibited.
Additionally, there is apprehension regarding the uploading licenses.
Pornhub and numerous other individuals are concerned that the new state law may compel individuals to access unregulated sites on the dark web.
Pornhub has cautioned users that the requirement of age verification has the potential to refer traffic to websites with significantly fewer safety measures.
The organization recommends that users be monitored based on the device they employ, rather than their identity.
Access to certain pornographic websites is currently prohibited in 13 states, including Florida.
Teenagers under the age of 14 are also prohibited from creating a social media account on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok under the new Florida law that the governor has enacted.
