A brand new Marist poll released on Friday indicates that the residents of New York City have lost confidence in the capacity of Mayor Eric Adams to serve them, as he is currently facing criminal charges for wire fraud, conspiracy, and bribery.

According to the survey results, 69% of respondents believe that he should abdicate, while 30% believe that he should complete the remainder of his term.

Adams’s disapproval rating has increased by 50 percentage points over the course of the last two years of his mayorship.

In March 2022, only 24% of New Yorkers disapproved of his leadership, as opposed to 74% of residents who disapproved of his tenure in October.

One percent of him continued to harbor reservations regarding his capabilities. Additionally, respondents were requested to indicate whether they believed Adams had committed an illicit act.

Sixty-five percent of residents are of the opinion that he has committed an illegal act, while twenty-four percent believe that he has committed an unethical but non-criminal act.

8% of respondents are of the opinion that he has not committed any wrongdoing, while 1% are uncertain.

Republicans and Democrats are nearly equally critical of Adams in the wake of his legal scandal.

When prompted to evaluate Adams’ performance as mayor, 48% of registered Republican voters expressed their strong disapproval of his decisions, while 49% of Democrats shared this sentiment.

The demographic with the highest rate of significant disapproval was New York residents with a college degree, with a rate of 55 percent.

Individuals earning $50,000 or more and white New Yorkers were the next most disapproving demographics, with a combined rate of 53 percent.

The residents of Manhattan and Brooklyn were the most dissatisfied with Adams in terms of geography.

The survey results of Manhattan respondents indicated that 46 percent of them strongly disapprove of Mayor Adams, 30 percent disapprove, 14 percent approve of him, and 10 percent strongly approve of him.
