This weekend, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), the Republican vice presidential nominee, stated that his emotions are not affected by the Democrats’ designation of him as “weird,” as past comments he made prior to being selected as former President Trump’s running mate have been resurfaced.
The interview with Fox, which was conducted during a campaign stop, was conducted nearly two weeks after Trump announced that Vance would serve as his running companion on the Republican presidential ticket.
“No, not at all. It doesn’t hurt my feelings.” Vance said during the interview.
“Look, the price of admission — meaning, the price of getting to serve the people of this country — is the Democrats are going to attack us with everything that they have. I think it’s an honor,” he continued.
“As Harry Truman once said, ‘if you can’t take the heat, stay out of the kitchen,’” he concluded.
His former remarks have been universally condemned by Democrats as “bizarre.”
Chuck Schumer, the Senate Majority Leader (D-N.Y.), stated that the selection of Vance as Trump’s running companion was one of the most advantageous actions the former president has taken for Democrats.
The campaign of Vice President Harris has since attempted to capitalize on Vance’s years old remarks and has also insinuated, without evidence, that Trump is regretting his decision to select Vance as his running mate.
