Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was reportedly commended by former President Donald Trump following a productive meeting in the Sunshine State.
Speculation has arisen following a secret conversation on Sunday between Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for president in 2024, and his former adversary DeSantis, that the former president may select the Florida governor as his running mate in the upcoming November election.
Nevertheless, according to a source, the purpose of the gathering was not to deliberate on the vice presidency, but rather to engage in a reconciliation dialogue following a fiercely contested primary.
The talk purportedly centered around strategizing cooperative fundraising endeavors aimed at aiding Trump in defeating his most likely Democratic adversary, President Joe Biden.
Trump and DeSantis convened for around three hours at the Shell Bay Club in Hollywood, Florida, owned by real estate investor Steve Witkoff.
This meeting marked the initial instance of communication between the two individuals since DeSantis withdrew from the Republican primary earlier this year.
On Monday, Trump using his Truth Social platform to share information about the gathering and highlighted the governor’s “enthusiastic” endorsement for president, despite earlier hostility resulting from DeSantis’ decision to compete against him for the GOP primary.
“I am very happy to have the full and enthusiastic support of Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida. We had a great meeting yesterday, arranged by mutual friend Steve Witkoff, at his beautiful Shell Bay Club in Hollywood, Florida. The conversation mostly concerned how we would work closely together to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Also discussed was the future of Florida, which is FANTASTIC! I greatly appreciate Ron’s support in taking back our Country from the Worst President in the History of the United States. November 5th is a BIG DAY!!!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
