Florida Governor Ron DeSantis criticized a popular social media account, run by former real estate agent Chaya Raichik, for allegedly spreading false information about a Florida law that prohibits illegal immigrants from obtaining driver’s licenses.
Raichik, with an impressive following of almost three million, shared a news video on X that shed light on a distressing incident involving three individuals from Guatemala.
These individuals were apprehended for their involvement in a disturbing incident where they coerced a woman into her vehicle and subjected her to a horrifying sexual assault. The post received over two million views on Wednesday.
DeSantis, who has been vocal about his concerns regarding President Biden’s approach to the border crisis, reminded Raichik in a subsequent post that Florida law does not allow undocumented immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses.
.@libsoftiktok got community noted for lying about FL law, which not only prohibits illegal aliens from getting drivers licenses but also prohibits recognition of licenses issued to illegal aliens from other states.
Truth shouldn’t be a casualty of attempts to generate clicks… https://t.co/tdJs3x42iH

Raichik’s post also got a “community note,” a handy feature on X that lets users add more context or fact check.
The response was met with a variety of opinions. Some X users raised doubts about DeSantis being the author of the post and came to Raichik’s defense, while others requested her to remove the original post.
Quality has declined ever since @elonmusk started rewarding engagement and clicks more than factually accurate content.
I’m not suggesting X needs a “ministry of truth” like the old Twitter bans, but something needs to change, and it should start with conservatives governing… https://t.co/YKTH5hPUgu

Libs of TikTok gained traction starting in 2021 for shedding light on contentious aspects of the education system, including explicit content in books and resources related to the radical LGBT agenda.
