Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is currently celebrating his public dispute with Disney and mocking the company’s legal actions.

One year ago, the Republican governor approved a bill to invalidate Disney’s special district.

“I think it’s been a success story. I don’t view it as a fight at this point because I think that they’ve lost on the underlying claims,” DeSantis said.

“There were people pointing out and saying ‘oh, people in Central Florida are gonna pay higher taxes, the sky’s gonna fall.’ Those people were wrong.” he continued.

Established in 1967, the former Reedy Creek Improvement District granted the company complete regulatory authority over Disney World, including government services like fire protection, emergency services, and infrastructure.

DeSantis shared a video on X earlier Tuesday stating that the dissolution of the special district saved Florida taxpayers millions.

In a recent development, a lawsuit against DeSantis filed by Disney was dismissed by a judge.

The lawsuit claimed that DeSantis retaliated against the company for criticizing an education bill passed by the Republican-controlled legislature.
