Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida has stated that he expects to reject the results if former president Donald Trump, the frontrunner for the Republican nomination, loses the first Republican voting contests in Iowa and New Hampshire.

“He will say it’s stolen no matter what. He will try to delegitimize the results. He did that against Ted Cruz in 2016,” DeSantis said.

“I don’t think there’s been a single time he’s ever been in competition for something, where he didn’t get it, where he has accepted [it]. I think that that’s to be expected, but I don’t think people are gonna buy it.” he continued.

With two separate indictments pertaining to his purported attempts to obstruct the peaceful transfer of power, Trump has never acknowledged his defeat in the 2020 presidential election in public.

Trump is accused in the federal indictment pertaining to the previous presidential election of conspiring to obstruct the orderly succession of power following his defeat to Joe Biden.

The charge against Trump and six unidentified co-conspirators is that they knowingly disseminated information claiming that”election fraud was widespread and he had won, which ultimately resulted in the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Trump has vigorously disavowed any culpability in the matter.
