The contentious confrontation between California Governor Gavin Newsom and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis that aired on Fox on Thursday evening managed to attract an impressive 4.75 million viewers who tuned in to the contest live.

According to a Fox News release, the 90-minute debate, which was designed to present opposing visions for the nation by the two prominent governors, was the most viewed program of the year on Fox News’ Sean Hannity.

Approximately 700,000 individuals also remained awake late that evening to watch a rerun of the abysmal performance.

DeSantis detailed the variety of conservative policies he has implemented in Florida at the event, whereas Newsom defended President Joe Biden’s administration and reelection campaign in a vehement manner and attempted to characterize DeSantis negatively.

The governors’ debate lacked the support and promotion of the party infrastructure, in contrast to the ongoing sequence of debates in the Republican presidential primary contest.

In recent months, the three Republican presidential debates attracted respective viewerships of 12.8 million, 9.5 million, and 6.9 million.
