Following his previous endorsement of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, influential Iowa evangelical leader Bob Vander Plaats was the target of former President Trump’s ire.

“Bob Vander Plaats, the former High School Accountant from Iowa, will do anything to win, something which he hasn’t done in many years. He’s more known for scamming Candidates than he is for Victory, but now he’s going around using Disinformation from the Champions of that Art, the Democrats.” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

“I don’t believe anything Bob Vander Plaats says. Anyone who would take $95,000, and then endorse a Candidate who is going nowhere, is not what Elections are all about!” he continued.

The evangelical leader told Fox News’ Brett Baier in his endorsement on Tuesday that the Republican Party requires “someone who can win in 2024.”

His support arrives two weeks after the governor of Iowa, Kim Reynolds, endorsed the governor of Florida.

Reynolds was also criticized by the former president prior to her anticipated endorsement, who labeled her “disloyal.”

DeSantis additionally obtained the support of Representative Chip Roy (R-Texas) on Saturday.
