Ron DeSantis, governor of Florida and GOP presidential candidate in 2024, reportedly reaffirmed on Saturday his support for Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s (R-Alabama) ban on military promotions.

The Pentagon policy that reimburses costs for service members going across state boundaries for abortions is the subject of Tuberville’s months-long boycott of over 300 military promotions.

“What the defense department is doing is outside the law. They are breaking, violating the law by funding abortion tourism with tax dollars.” DeSantis said during a recent appearance.

DeSantis’ remarks on Saturday are a restatement of his previous position on the matter, demonstrating that despite the protest’s extended duration, he still supports it.

When speaking to radio host Hugh Hewitt in July, DeSantis attacked the approach.

DeSantis added that he will repeal the provision right away if elected president.

“I can tell you, when I’m president, on day one, that policy goes into the trash can where it belongs,” DeSantis claimed.
