In order to support his claims that it was not worthwhile for him to debate his opponents for the Republican presidential nomination, former President Donald J. Trump reportedly held a campaign event on Thursday in New Hampshire.
Trump appeared to trying to position himself as the party’s inevitable nominee.
Months before any voting would take place, Mr. Trump claimed to hold a commanding lead in the 2024 Republican primary while addressing a crowd of few hundred supporters in a New England state that served as a launchpad for his win in 2016. On his social media platform, Truth Social, he has been discussing related subjects.

Giving his G.O.P. opponents, like Governor Ron DeSantis, an opening on a debate platform, he claimed, was pointless.
“Why would you do that?” Trump said to the crowd.
Trump has a history of making threats to miss debates, and on occasion has actually done so.
Conservatives commentators on social media spoke out against the idea, with some even accusing Trump of showing cowardice in refusing to debate DeSantis:

What a bunch of bull crap comments. Trump is an experienced Candidate! When have you seen them treat Trump in any fair way. Not in debates not even in a 2020 election that he had won! The “Radical” left doesn’t even believe in fairness any more and there are 7 American disservice propaganda news Networks that are against anyone with a brain. There moto is “think like me” or else! Trump’s approval rating is like 56+%. He doesn’t even have to go on a debate stage full of fools who are just going to “say” what they will do for USA. Trump doesn’t have to “defend” his record! I lived his record in 2016-2020 and liked it very much. So if you think he is “afraid” I have never heard such words so far from the truth! He is in a very nice position to “negotiate” the debate terms! And as An American I never want to see a Chris Wallace “stop” anyone from answering important questions “like how come 3 million dollars from China was given to Biden?
I wish Trump and DeSAntis would team up instead of attacking each other. The two together would be fantastic! Trump his deserved 2bd term followed by DeSantis giving us 12 good years in a row.
None of us are perfect but I will take Trump over Biden any day of the week. I liked $1.69 a gallon gas for one thing. I liked the tax cut from Trump instead of the tax increase I got from Biden. etc.etc. Trump was at times a show man but at least he could speak whole sentences unlike Biden.
