After months of silence, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis reportedly struck out against both former President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden, calling into question the former’s decisions and declaring his belief that he could defeat the latter in a general election.

These comments were made by DeSantis during an interview with Piers Morgan for the show “Piers Morgan Uncensored” on Fox Nation, which is scheduled to air later on this week.

The remarks from DeSantis come after the former president has launched multiple attacks on the governor since the midterm elections ended, including trying to brand the governor with derogatory names, promoting baseless claims that DeSantis is a groomer, and the false claim that Democrat billionaire George Soros endorsed DeSantis.

DeSantis was lambasted by the former president on Monday after he came out against the prosecution of Trump by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office probe.

Over the course of his speech, DeSantis made a statement that was critical of Trump.

During his conversation with Morgan in the Governor’s Mansion in Tallahassee, DeSantis provided the clearest sign to date that he is considering running for president in the 2020 election.

When questioned about differences between himself and Trump, DeSantis answered that there were several key differences.

“The approach to COVID was different. I would have fired somebody like Fauci. I think he got way too big for his britches, and I think he did a lot of damage.” DeSantis said.

“I also think just in terms of my approach to leadership, I get personnel in the government who have the agenda of the people and share our agenda.” he continued.

But perhaps the most critical statement DeSantis made that gave the best evidence yet that he does, in fact, plan on running for President was about President Biden:

“If I were to run, I’m running against Biden, Like we [he and Trump] are competing for the Republican [nomination], potentially, I get that, but ultimately, you know, the guy I’m gonna focus on is Biden because I think he’s failed the country. I think the country wants a change. I think they want a fresh start and a new direction and so we’ll be very vocal about that. I spent a lot of time in Florida fighting back.” DeSantis stated.

When asked by Morgan if he believed he could defeat Biden in general election, DeSantis answered in the affirmative, saying “I think so.”

  1. I’m enjoying your memoir, The Courage to Be Free, which is on my Kindle. I read it during each hour I spend on the treadmill at the gym. It’s fascinating to read the inside stories of your early life, plus your journey from congressman to governor of Florida. The additional bonus is that your book makes the time on the treadmill fly by! Thank you for your service to our country. I don’t have a website, but my books, This Was Meant to Be and Class Acts-Short Stories for Teenagers have been reviewed on Amazon and in the UK.
