According to his political team’s statement on Thursday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis reportedly raised an astonishing $20 million within the first six weeks of his bid for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.
The super PAC backing the Florida governor’s presidential bid, Never Back Down, said in a separate statement to Fox News that it had raised $130 million in donations since the committee’s establishment in early March.
The financial power of the Florida governor as he seeks to unseat front-runner and former President Donald Trump for the GOP nomination next year was demonstrated by data from the DeSantis campaign and Never Back Down.
According to information released by Trump’s campaign on Wednesday, the former president’s campaign and Save America, his political action committee, raised over $35 million in the second quarter of political fundraising between April and June.
Beginning with the outset of his campaign in late May, DeSantis raised the $20 million fundraising total in less than half the time.
In the most recent GOP presidential nomination polls for 2024, DeSantis is in second place, trailing Trump but ahead of the rest of the crowded field of candidates.
