Former White House press secretary Katie Zacharia faced a tense grilling from Piers Morgan on Wednesday, as the British broadcaster pressed her on her abrupt firing after just five days on the job.

During an appearance on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” Zacharia repeatedly steered the conversation toward President Trump’s accomplishments, prompting a visibly frustrated Morgan to interrupt.

“Katie, I get it. I get it, Katie. I get it. I’m just not entirely sure you’ve realized you’re no longer the press secretary,” Morgan said. “You do realize you’re not the press secretary, right?”

Zacharia responded that she now lives in California and would “continue fighting for President Trump.”

Morgan said he did not want to play “gotcha,” but pressed Zacharia on what she told the president when he fired her, a moment Trump had described publicly. Zacharia refused to share details.

“Katie, come on!” Morgan exclaimed. “Katie, he’s told the entire world what he said.”

“I will not disclose private conversations that I’ve had with the president,” Zacharia replied. “I will keep fighting for him every single day. No matter how hard the media wants to spin.” She added, “I am ruthlessly loyal. I always have been, and I will continue to be.”

When Zacharia insisted the interview should focus on the midterms, Morgan countered that the whole point of the interview was her time at the White House. Zacharia said she had expected the conversation to center on the upcoming elections, while Morgan maintained both topics had been agreed upon with his producers.

“Let’s cut the crap here and have a serious genuine conversation,” Morgan said. “You sound like a robot. Has Donald Trump got some program plugged into you to make you come out with all this stuff?”

“And when it comes to loyalty, he did fire you after 5 days,” Morgan added. “He did it very nicely, but he made it clear to the world this wasn’t going to last.”

“I do not sound like a robot,” Zacharia shot back, adding that the matter had already been “litigated and adjudicated.”

Later in the interview, Zacharia opened up when Morgan asked about her family. “You finally got uncensored, Katie,” Morgan said.

Zacharia departed the White House on Oct. 16, less than a week after Trump appointed her to replace Karoline Leavitt. Her tenure was marked by a debut briefing that lasted just 14 minutes and included questions from only three reporters. She also faced scrutiny over her credentials after acknowledging she had failed the California bar exam and was not licensed to practice law.

Her five-day stint makes her the shortest-serving press secretary in U.S. history, breaking the 11-day record held by Anthony Scaramucci, who served as White House communications director.
