Controversial right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos is reportedly being held in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody after reportedly being apprehended at an airport in Louisiana.

The New York Post reported learning of Yiannopoulos’ detention, while TMZ reported that federal immigration authorities took him into custody at the Louisiana airport.

The precise circumstances surrounding the detention were not immediately clear. No reason for the reported ICE action was provided, and further details about what led authorities to apprehend Yiannopoulos were not available.

Yiannopoulos, 41, is a British national who became known as a provocative conservative media personality and a former editor at Breitbart News. He has also worked at different times as a spokesman and political adviser for rapper Kanye West.

The British commentator’s political activities have included a brief role connected to former U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. Yiannopoulos served as an unpaid summer intern for the Georgia Republican in 2022.

He later became involved in West’s attempted 2024 presidential campaign. The rapper, who released the song “Heartless,” mounted what was described as a stunt White House bid.

Yiannopoulos served as West’s director of political operations during that effort.

His work with West included arranging a widely noticed dinner involving the rapper and President Donald Trump. White nationalist Nick Fuentes also attended the sit-down.

Yiannopoulos and West did not maintain a consistent working relationship, with the two experiencing an eventual falling out in May 2024.

Their split followed West’s announcement that he intended to launch an adult entertainment studio under his Yeezy brand. That development resulted in the end of Yiannopoulos’ work with the hip-hop artist at the time.

Yiannopoulos has consequently been described as West’s on-again, off-again spokesman because of the changing nature of their professional relationship.

His reported detention marks the latest development involving the controversial commentator, whose past work has crossed conservative media, Republican politics and West’s political activities.

However, the immediate reason behind his detention by federal immigration officials remains unknown.

Reports only indicated that Yiannopoulos was apprehended at an airport in Louisiana and was being held in ICE custody. They did not specify when authorities took him into custody, what his immigration status was at the time or whether he was accused of violating any particular law.

Neither the reported location of the airport nor information about any future proceedings was immediately provided.

The available account also did not indicate how long Yiannopoulos could remain in custody or what action federal officials may take next.

For now, details surrounding the British provocateur’s reported apprehension remain limited, with the circumstances that prompted ICE to detain him still unclear.
