President Donald Trump took aim at the Democratic Party on Saturday, arguing that it has fallen under the influence of socialists and warning that the movement is gaining momentum within the party. At the same time, Trump said he hopes Democrats are able to reverse course before, in his view, it is too late.

The president delivered his remarks in two consecutive posts on Truth Social, where he sharply criticized both socialism and communism while accusing Democratic leaders of losing control of their own party.

“The Radical Left Lunatics, often referred to as Dumocrats, have lost control of their Party,” Trump wrote. “They are being led by loud and unattractive people who have totally lost their way. Hopefully, they will fight back, and not let this sick, Communist ideology, take over America!”

The post came just one minute after Trump declared that the United States would never become a socialist nation. He also argued that Democrats had moved beyond socialism and embraced communism, ending his message with the all-capitalized declaration: “AMERICA WILL NEVER BE A COMMUNIST COUNTRY!”

Trump has increasingly emphasized similar themes in recent weeks as several socialist candidates have found success in Democratic primary elections.

Among the recent winners are New York Democrats Darializa Avila Chevalier and Claire Valdez, both of whom are members of the Democratic Socialists of America. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who is also a Democratic Socialists of America member, endorsed both candidates during their primary campaigns.

In addition to their shared political ideology, Chevalier and Valdez also agree with Mamdani that Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, should be abolished.

The recent primary victories were celebrated by Mamdani on election night and in interviews that followed. However, the results also prompted concern among some Democrats aligned with the party’s more moderate wing.

According to the article, one centrist House Democrat told Axios that the growing presence of socialist lawmakers would become a “headache” for the Democratic Party in 2027.

The issue has also drawn criticism from prominent political commentators.

Television host Bill Maher warned that Democrats would “blow” the midterm elections if they embrace what he described as “crazy” socialists. Democratic strategist James Carville likewise urged congressional Democrats to distance themselves from any socialists who eventually make it to Congress.

Trump has continued to comment on the recent primary results over the past several days.

After the elections, he sarcastically congratulated Mamdani for helping elect what he called “3 solid Communists.” Days later, Trump struck a more serious tone, warning that communists had begun making “their move” in the United States.

“The game is on,” Trump wrote. “Enjoy watching!”

Saturday’s Truth Social posts are the latest in a series of statements from the president criticizing socialism and communism.

During his Fourth of July speech, Trump described communism as a “cancer” that must be addressed as soon as possible, reinforcing a message that has become an increasingly frequent part of his public remarks.

With his latest comments, Trump again sought to draw a sharp contrast between his vision for the country and what he characterized as the Democratic Party’s growing embrace of socialist ideology, while expressing hope that Democrats would ultimately push back against what he called a communist movement before it gains further influence.
