Former Vice President Kamala Harris reportedly made her first significant appearance since her election loss to President Donald Trump, delivering a passionate speech in San Francisco.

Speaking at the 20th anniversary gala for Emerge, a Democratic organization that promotes women in politics, Harris launched a critique of the Trump administration.

In her address, Harris asserted that the American people deserve leaders who improve their lives and strengthen the country, contrasting this with what she described as the administration’s failures.

“Instead of an administration working to advance America’s highest ideals, we are witnessing the wholesale abandonment of those ideals,” she stated, referencing the first 100 days of Trump’s presidency.

Harris accused Trump of creating “the greatest manmade economic crisis in modern presidential history,” pointing to the chaos caused by his extensive tariff policies.

She expressed concern that the administration thrives on instilling fear and division among citizens.

Throughout her speech, Harris praised progressive figures such as Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for their efforts to rally people against Trump’s agenda.

She also highlighted the actions of Senator Chris Van Hollen, who met with a deported individual in El Salvador, emphasizing the need for compassion in politics.

In a lighter moment, Harris shared a metaphor involving elephants at the San Diego Zoo, who formed a protective circle during an earthquake. She used this imagery to inspire solidarity and support among Democrats.

While Harris did not directly address speculation about a potential run for California governor in 2026, she hinted at her political future by asserting, “I’m not going anywhere.” This speech marks a significant moment for Harris as she reestablishes her presence in the political arena.
