Stephen Miller, the deputy chief of staff for policy, reportedly defended the Trump administration’s deportation decisions in an appearance on Fox News, particularly relating to the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an individual who has been accused of being mistakenly deported to El Salvador.

Miller asserted that the reports suggesting Garcia’s deportation was an error were fundamentally flawed.

Miller clarified that Garcia, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, was rightfully deported, emphasizing that he had a final removal order issued in 2019, which established his illegal status in the U.S. Miller stated, “He was not mistakenly sent to El Salvador. He is an illegal alien from El Salvador.”

He further explained that claims about a “withholding order” preventing Garcia’s removal to El Salvador were irrelevant because membership in a foreign terrorist organization precludes such protections.

Miller pointed fingers at a “saboteur” within the Department of Justice (DOJ) for initially stating that Garcia’s deportation was a mistake.

He claimed this lawyer had been dismissed from their position for spreading misinformation. According to Miller, the administration’s stance was clear: Garcia, believed to be affiliated with the MS-13 gang, had gone to the appropriate location.

Despite Miller’s assertions, Garcia has denied involvement with MS-13.

The allegations against him stem largely from information obtained by local police via a confidential informant.

Miller’s comments underscore the Trump administration’s zero-tolerance policy on illegal immigration and the complexities surrounding deportation cases, especially those involving alleged gang affiliations.

The situation highlights ongoing tensions related to immigration policies in the U.S. and the challenges of balancing legality with humanitarian concerns.
