One week after Hurricane Milton struck Florida’s Gulf Coast, Governor Ron DeSantis will now reportedly be delivering a speech in Sarasota on Thursday.

In Tampa earlier on Thursday, the governor was accompanied by First Lady Casey DeSantis to discuss Hope Florida, an organization that provides Floridians with resources, skills, and opportunities to reestablish themselves.

Crews executed 4.2 million power restorations in less than a week. Throughout the week, numerous search and rescue operations were also underway as a result of the inundation caused by the storms.

DeSantis declared that all school districts in the state are now in session as of Thursday.

Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, and Sarasota County schools will receive $100,000 each from the Florida Disaster Fund to support organizations.

Additionally, funds will be allocated to counties such as Highlands, Polk, Pasco, Pinellas, Sarasota, and Manatee to address any damage that may occur at the voting locations prior to the election.

DeSantis and the First Lady are contributing $1 million to the Florida Disaster Fund.
