According to a recent poll, Sen. Ted Cruz (R) has now increased his advantage over Rep. Colin Allred (D) in the Texas Senate race as he endeavors to secure a third term in office.
Cruz leads Allred, a three-term House member, by four points, according to a University of Houston survey released on Wednesday.
This lead exceeds the 2.7-point margin of error. This is an increase from the two percentage points he held in mid-August in the same poll.
Cruz is regarded favorably by 50% of the surveyed voters and unfavorably by 48%, according to the most recent poll.
Forty-six percent of Texans hold a favorable opinion of Allred, while 42 percent hold an unfavorable opinion of him.
On the presidential side, former President Trump is ahead of Vice President Harris by 5 percentage points, which is consistent with his margin of victory over President Biden in the Lone Star State in 2020.
Cruz’s seat is one of the few GOP-held seats that is within reach for Democrats with less than three weeks until Election Day, despite the fact that it has been challenging to approach.
However, the Cook Political Report upgraded the race from “likely Republican” to “lean Republican” two weeks ago due to the decreasing gap.
Cruz has consistently served as an inspiration to progressives, which has resulted in a financial advantage for Allred’s campaign.
During the third fundraising quarter, his team raised more than $30 million, which provided him with a financial advantage in Texas, one of the most expensive states to campaign in, as he approached the final stretch.
