On Thursday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis reportedly criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for her attempt to involve herself in the response to hurricanes Helene and Milton.

In recent days, DeSantis and Harris have been at odds after the governor declined to accept a call from Harris regarding the hurricane response.

Harris has “no role” in the process, he stated on Thursday. He also stated that she had never attempted to contact him during previous storms in Florida.

“I am working with the president of the United States. I’m working with the director of FEMA [Federal Emergency Management Agency]. We’ve been doing this now nonstop for over two weeks,” DeSantis said.

“Although I’ve worked well with the president, she has never called Florida. She has never offered any support. I don’t have time for those games. I don’t care about her campaign. Obviously, I’m not a supporter of hers, but she’s not, she has no role in this process. And so I’m working with the people I need to be working with.” he continued.

On Wednesday, the White House press office was the site of the dispute between DeSantis and Harris.

A reporter inquired of President Biden whether it was the governor’s obligation to answer the vice president’s phone calls.

Biden has engaged in numerous phone conversations with DeSantis since Hurricane Helene made landfall in the Southeast two weeks ago, and Hurricane Milton made landfall late Wednesday.

He has instructed both DeSantis and Tampa Mayor Jane Castor to “call him directly” if any additional assistance is required.

DeSantis observed on Tuesday morning that all of his federal requests for additional assistance have been fulfilled.
