A new national poll indicates that the presidential election is becoming increasingly competitive.
Among likely voters, former President Trump is now outpacing Vice President Harris by 1 percentage point.
In the same poll Trump was previously behind by two points.
Trump received 48% of the support of prospective 2024 election voters, according to a survey conducted by Quinnipiac University and released on Tuesday.
While Harris received 47% of the voters’ support. Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate, and Chase Oliver, the Libertarian Party candidate, both received one percent.
The poll’s findings indicate a slightly altered perspective from its previous poll. Harris was marginally ahead of Trump in the late August poll conducted by Quinnipiac University, with a score of 49 percent, while Trump received 47 percent.
According to the survey, both candidates are currently deadlocked at 48 percent in a hypothetical two-way matchup.
The poll revealed that both nominees enjoyed substantial support from their respective party’s constituency; however, Trump maintained a slight advantage among independent voters.
According to the survey, the Republican former president garnered 47% of independent voters, while Democrat Harris received 44%. Stein and Oliver each received 3% and 2% of the vote, respectively.
A second debate between the White House contenders was desired by nearly two-thirds of prospective voters, 64 percent.
CNN extended an invitation to both Harris and Trump to participate in a second confrontation last week.
