According to a recent poll, a majority of voters who supported President Biden in 2020 now believe he is too old to effectively serve another term.
According to the poll by New York Times/Siena College, 61 percent of Biden’s 2020 voters expressed concerns about his age affecting his ability to serve effectively.
Even among his potential supporters in a hypothetical general election, 59 percent believe he is too old to effectively serve as president.
In addition, according to the new numbers Trump is currently ahead of Biden by 5 percentage points in a potential rematch, garnering 48 percent of support.
According to the poll, a majority of registered voters expressed concerns about Biden’s age impacting his effectiveness as president, with even a significant portion of Democrats sharing this sentiment.
Consistent with other surveys, this poll reflects voters expressing worries about Biden’s age.
At 81 years old, Biden is now the oldest president in U.S. history. If he wins another term, he would surpass his own record as the oldest serving president, reaching 86 by the end of his term.
If elected to the White House in November, the likely GOP presidential nominee, Former President Trump, would be 82 years old by the end of his term.
Trump’s followers were also not inclined to characterize the ex-president as too advanced in age for the position.
Surveying 980 registered voters from Feb. 25-28, the poll carries a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
