The refusal of President Biden to sit for an interview prior to the Super Bowl, according to Democratic strategist James Carville, is a “sign” that his administration lacks confidence in him.
The president has maintained a two-year streak without participating in an interview prior to the major event.
“It’s the biggest television audience, not even close, and you get a chance to do a 20, 25-minute interview on that day, and you don’t do it, that’s a kind of sign that the staff or yourself doesn’t have much confidence in you. There’s no other way to read this,” Carvile said during a recent CNN interview.
Biden’s abstention from the event coincides with the negative publicity he has received since the special counsel’s report on his management of classified documents was made public.
Thursday’s publication of the report by special counsel Robert Hur concluded that the president should not face criminal charges, in part due to significant mental enfeeblement.
Thursday night, Biden responded to the claim in a heated press conference, where he defended his memory and mental capacity.
Nonetheless, the president managed to mistake the president of Mexico to the president of Egypt during the same press conference that had originally been designed to showcase his mental competence.
